Kristine R. Ferrer (“Tine”) brings a wealth of experience and an impressive track record in Corporate Law, Taxation, and Litigation. She is a CPA Lawyer with 15 years of legal practice. Tine began her career as a tax lawyer at Sycip Gorres Velayo & Co., where she developed strong foundation in tax and corporate law. She later joined the firm where she further solidified her experience as a tax and corporate law specialist and eventually became the firm’s Head of Tax.
As an experienced tax and corporate counsel, Tine specializes in mergers and acquisitions and has been involved in major local and international transactions handled by the firm. She likewise possesses extensive experience in handling matters before the Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Court of Tax Appeals. One of her notable achievements was leading the team that facilitated what was widely regarded as the largest tax compromise settlement in the country — the ₱25 billion tax compromise settlement between Mighty Corporation and the BIR. Her team also completed the BIR requirements for the ₱45 billion acquisition of Mighty Corporation’s assets by JT International (Philippines), Inc. More recently, Tine’s team secured a refund of erroneously paid taxes on royalties amounting to ₱152.5 million before the Court of Tax Appeals — a rare and remarkable feat in tax litigation.
Apart from being a tax and corporate lawyer, Tine is also an outstanding litigator who has successfully represented clients in civil, criminal, commercial, and intra-corporate disputes, including those regarded as high-profile cases.
Tine’s accomplishments have earned her numerous recognitions. She was named one of the “10 Most Successful Leaders to Follow in Asia” in the 2023 edition of Tycoon Success Magazine and one of the “Top 10 Consulting Company Leaders from the Philippines” in the 2023 edition of CEO Insights Asia. She was also named the Exclusive Member for Corporate Law in the Philippines by the Global Law Experts for the year 2026. In addition, she has been recognized by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific as a Recommended Lawyer for Projects and Energy, and for Corporate and M&A.
Tine is a certified negotiator, having obtained her Certification in Negotiation Mastery from Harvard Business School Online. She has served as a lecturer in Taxation Law and Special Proceedings at the Ateneo de Davao University College of Law, her alma mater.
Tine’s leadership and remarkable advocacy skills were already evident during her law school years. In 2009, her team won the First National Debate on International Humanitarian Law, where she was awarded Best Debater of the Tournament. She was also a finalist in the first season of the ANC CVC Law Debates in 2008. In the same year, she became President of her debate varsity team, the Ateneo Law Forensic Association, as well as her law school organization, Lakas Atenista.
