The Philippine Electricity Market Corporation accredited Karl Arian A. Castillo as one of its mediators and/or arbitrators for the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM). The WESM was established by the Department of Energy pursuant to the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001 (Republic Act No. 9136) to provide the mechanism for identifying and setting the price of actual variations from the quantities transacted under contracts between sellers and purchasers of electricity. Power generation companies, distribution utilities, suppliers, aggregators, and electricity end-users are considered participants in the WESM.
Prior to his accreditation, Karl has been involved in civil and criminal litigation, arbitration, and other modes of dispute resolution since joining the Firm in 2001.
He took his oath as WESM Mediator and/or Arbitrator on April 8, 2014.
